Dan Kobel alias Mr Joseph, was born in Novara, Italy on the 31st January 1983. He had always been influenced by soul, jazz, gospel, and R’nB music so much so that, at the age of 15, he had already decided to begin a career as a DJ. Hours and hours of listening to records in shops in his own hometown with one objective, to create and to have himself heard. A difficult but constant beginning with one sole aim.
After about two years of commitment and dedication towards his love of music, he began with engagements in small bars and disco-bars in and around home then later in the more notorious discotheques in the north of Italy.
He began by playing soulful house and house music, his initial influence being that of ‘old school’, those, who at the end of the 90’s domineered and inspired the international house scene. To name but a few, Master at Work, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo and many others. Mr Jospeph nourished infinite love for this kind of music which you can still find and listen to once more in his DJ set.
Years go by and his artistic vein matures. He experiments and tries to break away from his own roots by listening to different types of music from Techno to Tech House to Chillout.
The turning point for Mr Joseph comes along in 2007 after landing in Ibiza to promote himself and to understand if this really was the road he wanted to travel. After extensive exploration in the various locations on the island, he lands a residency in the Coast Line Café, a well-known nightclub which, for special events, starred the top DJ Tiesto up until 2006.
On the 12 July 2007 the king of the Ibiza coast Carl Cox arrives as a guest at the Coast Line. After listening to Mr Joseph‘s DJ set for 3 hours, he decides to make him a proposal that nobody could ever refuse, that of working at the Space Club in Ibiza for the next season, and so it was.
From 2008 to 2011 every season, he played three fixed evenings at the Space Club in Ibiza, then a year in the Sunset Terrace. That year was Mr Joseph’s best year playing for 6 hours after Carl Cox on the Terrace.
Never holding back, Mr Joseph then decides to take up a career as a producer, carrying him towards his first recognition in December 2015 when his first release ‘Love Me’ came out on Tony Records by the legendary Tony Humphries. A new adventure, new incentives driven by his passion and love for music which will, once again, conduct him to achieve further results.
In 2017 he returns to Ibiza for Sundays Hi where he participates in the evening performance with Green Velvet and Tom Novy. Mr Joseph alias Dan Kobel does not appreciate being identified only with one unique genre of music as, over time, he has matured different interests for every shade of disco music. In his sets, you can find a well-blended mixture, nicely linked together in a logical key.
